Join us for an evening of Ice Skating at Mohonk Mt. House…On Saturday, March 12th, 5:30PM, 2011 the Saugerties, NY based Boundless Edge Ice Dance Ensemble and Bond Street Theatre of NYC will present the New York Premiere of “Persephone and the Birth of Winter”, co-produced and directed by NYC based Mike Carson Productions.  Persephone’s story is first told in comedic “Bond Street” style, the cast of 8 skaters then dance the story. Five foot tall Lost Soul puppet faces and a masked Zeus on stilts embellish the ice stage filled with a winged Hades, the two faced character of “Winter Summer”, Demeter and of course the beautiful, young Persephone.  The program will also include company repertoire “Volcano,” “Tulle and Satin,” “Flight” and “Run to the Rock.”  After the performance the audience is invited to try out the ice for themselves.  For those who don’t want to skate you can sip hot chocolate, enjoy the giant fireplace and bid on Silent Auction items, following which, benefit guests are invited to dinner and an awards ceremony at the Mountain House.
Why Support us…
We bring art into our community; art brings commerce and tourism and enriches our minds and imaginations!
The support of our friends and business community is so important to us. The support we received last year enabled us to do so much.  BE was able to offer part scholarships to attend the 2010 camp and fall and winter classes.  Without these funds these young people would not be able to learn and explore the art and sport of ice dancing.  Costumes for our 2010 choreography were made and purchased.  A portion of our rehearsal time and program development was also paid for out of funds raised at last years benefit.
How you can help…
We invite you to be part of the event by attending the Performance and or Benefit Dinner, donating an item to our Silent Auction or by placing an Ad in our program.  Money raised from this event will be used to grow our out reach efforts, pay for costumes, ice time, travel expenses and tuition assistance

About us ….
Boundless Edge is one of the nation’s only artistic, choreography-based ice dance ensembles and schools. Our mission is to offer both a training program and performance outlet for students who wish to pursue ice skating as a creative art and to present this innovative choreography to auidences in the Hudson Valley and beyond.  Our program offers young students, professional skaters and audiences interested in ice skating an alternative to the competitive ice skating format.
A Brief History of Boundless Edge …
The Boundless Edge Ice Dance Ensemble and School began in 2002 with 6 students and a single performance held at the Saugerties Kiwanis Ice Arena.  Currently, the school has over 40 students enrolled, many of whom take class 2 or 3 times each week.  Over the years our performance seasons have included appearances at Mohonk on Ice with Oksana Baiul and Nancy Kerrigan, the New Works and Young Artists series presented by the Ice Theatre of New York, Milford Pennsylvania’s Winter Lights Festival, the New Paltz Winter Carnival along with two annual performances at our home rink.  Our incredible guest performers have included Elin Schran’s, Boston Ice Theatre, Katherine Healy and David Lu of The Ice Theatre of New York, Gregory Wittrock, Performance Artist and Ksenia Makarova, Russian National champion.  We have skated to the live music of “A Perfect Gift, All that is Jazz” and set the dance choreography of local artist, clyde forth onto the ice.  This season we are working on a theatrical ice skating version of the Greek Myth Persephone produced and co-directed by Mike Carson Productions and Bond Street Theatre.  This innovative work combines puppetry, story telling and ice dancing.  In the spring NYC dance choreographer, Linda Diamond will set a piece from her company’s repertoire onto our ice skaters.
