Saturday, March 2nd 7:00PM

Saugerties Kiwanis Ice Arena

Admission: $15 Adults, $10 Seniors and Children, $90 for 10 ticket blocks

For More Info: Boundless Edge 845.626.4596 www.boundlessedge.org
This years HOME show will feature contributions from Frozen Feet Theater (FFT), such as Berlin and In Tonight’s Performance both from the Series entitled “Ice Pops”, based on the popular classical music programming developed by the Boston Pop Concerts Other FFT contributions will include Volcano, a trio that depicts modern women warriors performing rituals, entering unknown territories and fending off dangers while keeping the circle between them safe. Red, first created and performed in 1996 at Rockefeller Center by Beth Woronoff, Boundless Edge Director and Frozen Feet Theater Co-Director. Red is a Martha Graham inspired solo performed in an ankle length red dress. Dorris goes to Birdland is a snapshot of the famous jazz club, Birdland during the tumultuous 1950’s. Dorris is a happy go lucky gal who loves jazz, especially Miles Davis’ All Blues. She witnesses the conflicts caused by segregation and the fight for equal rights and responds by literally holding onto her equilibrium despite the difficult ride. Flight, a modern day Snow White puts her mirror down and frees her self from the confines of a beautiful 12 foot long blue skirt.

FFT ensemble members include Alizah Allen, 9th ranked ladies US skater, Patrick Connelly, National Ice Dance competitor and Ice Theater of New York Ensemble Member, Sara Forsythe, Boundless Edge Ensemble member and Saugerties Native and Beth Woronoff, Founder and Director of Boundless Edge and former Ensemble Member and Choreographer for the Ice Theater of New York.

The Boundless Edge Performance Group will skate Set Fire to the Ice, a trio set to Adle’s Set Fire to the Sky, skated by James Basseler, Gracie Fossett and Olivia Wogan. Carl Carrozza will perform the Sodiers Day Dream. Boundless Edge students will also skate in several duets and trios.

FROZEN FEET THEATER directed by Mike Carson and Beth Woronoff has created a new genre in ice dancing that goes beyond the current Ice Capades-Follies-Cirque-Stars on Ice format, by telling dramatic stories; the myths and legends of the worlds’ cultures. Integrating the fluid strength and agility of skater/actors and the magical realism of puppetry within a narrative structure, this offers ice dancers the opportunity to present stories reflecting who we are, were and can be.

Their unique format has altered the approach of ice dancers, to include acting a role and has added a new dimension and way to reach an audience by combining the skaters’ unique artistry within the context of a multifaceted story such as “Viva La Vida; The Life of Frida Kahlo” or “Persephone and the Birth of Winter”. The company has received grants from the New York Foundation for the Arts, the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs.

Boundless Edge is a Saugerties, NY based School and Performance Group, founded in 2002. Its’ mission is to teach, develop and establish ice skating as a performance art in the Hudson Valley and beyond. The school had a unique curriculum that encourages creativity and self expression. The Ensemble offers these local artistic skaters a performance venue for their talents.

December 15th, 7PM, 2012

Cantine Field, Saugerties, NY

$10 Adults, $8 Students and Seniors

The Boundless Edge Ice Dance Ensemble will open our 10th Anniversary Season with a performance at our home rink, in Saugerties. This performance will be dedicated to Ana Dooley, a former Boundless Edge Skater who is battling a rare form of cancer. Twenty five percent of the cost of each ticket will be donated to her medical care. We have created a new work to music chosen by Ana Dooley, it will be performed by her friends and is titled “Set Fire to the Ice!” It is a quartet of young women gliding and smoothly building up the energy of Adele’s Set fire to the Rain, climaxing with lifts, cartwheels and fast spins.

The ensemble will also premiere a new work for six skaters by Gustavo Caldas, Brazilian trained dancer and choreographer. It is the tradition of our ensemble to work with non-skaters to create skating choreography. In this case Gustavo taught the skaters a dance on the floor and then moved those same steps to the ice. The skaters take on the role of translator, offering different ways to do the dance movements on the ice and allowing the choreographer to choose the one that offers the most meaning for his work.

The program will also included several revivals, “Red”, first created and performed at Rockefeller Center by Beth Woronoff, Boundless Edge Director, in 1996 and “Lightness created in 1997 during the first Chelsea Piers/Sky Rink Artist in Residence Ice Grant. “Red” is a Graham inspired solo to be performed by eighteen year old Saugerties native, Sara Forsythe. Sara will be wearing the ankle length red dress and will skate the original choreography. “Lightness” is the first part of “Six Arcs of a Circle” set to the Bach Cello Suites it is one long unraveling thread of spins, turns that accelerate and set the skater racing to the finish. It will be performed by thirteen year old Ana Alexander.

About the Boundless Edge Ensemble: The Saugerties, NY based Boundless Edge is a sponsored project of Fractured Atlas, a non-profit arts service organization. We are a movement ensemble whose focus is the performance and creation of contemporary, theatrical dances for the ice. Our mission is to develop and establish ice skating as a performance art in the Hudson Valley and beyond. The ensemble offers artistic skaters of all ages a performance venue for their talents while creating and maintaining a repertoire of dances choreographed by both local ice skaters and dancers.

About The Boundless Edge Teaching Program…
Boundless Edge is an exciting new performing arts program for ice skaters. This program offers skaters the opportunity to use the magical flow, glide and speed of ice skating while skating together with their friends in an ensemble. Ensemble skating, developed over the last 40 years, is an alternative to competitions and traditional show skating. Interesting and original choreography is created by each schools director, teachers or local dancers and choreographers. In order to gain the foundation of body control, strength and musicality, students take off-ice classes given by dancers and movement professionals. On the ice, skaters learn all of the traditional figure skating spins, jumps, turns and edges. In addition, to this they learn how to skate as a group unit, moving in sync with one another to music. As students progress they learn movement sequences that are then integrated into a complete dance. The highest level skaters perform in an Ensemble alongside their teachers and other professional
